Welcome to Black Bay Equestrian
Specializing in Jumpers, Black Bay Equestrian was created by Jumper and Equitation trainer Chris DeVere
who combines over 15 years of equestrian and show experience and a lifelong passion for horses with the goal of assisting riders of all levels to achieve their goals with a foundation of good horsemanship.
Located at a full service equestrian facility, Black Bay Equestrian offers a variety of services, from beginner
horse riding lessons, to full Jumper and Equitation training programs for those looking to compete in local SAHJA shows,
B and A rated shows. We also offer professional training and work with young sport horses. All levels of horses and
riders, including children 6 and up, are welcome in our programs.
Whether you are new to equestrian disciplines or are a seasoned competitor, Black Bay Equestrian can help tailor a program to suit
you. Lessons are personalized to each rider’s individual goals with a focus on safety
and success for both horse and rider. Group and private lessons are available depending on
your needs and schedule. All services are also available to clients on a trailer-in basis.
Our barn is located near Sacramento at our newly built facility in Loomis, California. Horses and riders will benefit from learning in a comfortable and relaxed environment that features riding trails,
large turnouts, hot/cold wash racks and many other amenities. Our large custom built all weather arena allows for year round
lessons and the ability to keep your horses schooled and conditioned during the off season.

New Rider Program and Lessons
New riders and children age 6 and up are always welcome! If you've never ridden before, we look forward to introducing you to horse back riding with our New Rider Program, helping you achieve your riding goals in a safe, professional and fun environment. Whether you are new to riding or have been away from the sport, we look forward to working with you.
You’ll learn important horsemanship skills, including:
- Grooming (caring for your horse before and after riding)
- Tacking up and un-tacking (saddle, bridle, etc.)
- Rider position
- Learning about riding aids
- Steering and controlling your horse
- The gaits of the horse - walk, trot, canter and becoming comfortable with the first two
- Learning the posting or rising trot and diagonals
- Horse, rider and barn safety

Horses For Lease

Jumper & Equitation Training Program
Our training program is one that that promotes happy, healthy and safe horses that enjoy their work, and encourages good communication between horse and rider. Black Bay Equestrian offers full and partial training options that can be individually tailored to you and your horse. Schedules are always flexible to suit the needs of our clients.
Full training - 5 days of lessons/schooling rides, includes 1 private lesson - $425 per month.
Partial training - 3 days of lessons/schooling rides - $250 per month.
